nothing on this wonderful movie?

This movie is great! Ginger passed herself off. One of my all time faves.

I keep missing it on TCM. Do you know where it's available? I haven't found it on Netflix, and it costs $38 on Amazon for the VHS!

Have you checked your public library, or a local video store?

This film was very funny and well executed. Ray Milland and Ginger Rogers were terrific. Lela Rogers (Ginger's mom) makes a cameo appearance later on in the film.

It's also playing on TCM on 11/27 at 10:00pm. Anytime you're looking for a classic like this you should look at the Turner Classic Movies they have their movies scheduled far in advance so you can probably find any showing youre looking for!

I love this movie! One of my favorites too. You know, until I looked it up on IMDB I always thought Cary Grant was the major. Millard looks a bit like him.
I wish this was on DVD, but I'm sure eventually it will be.

ACTUALLY, IT'S RAY MILLAND, NOT MILLARD--WHO I ALWAY REMEMBER AS "THE GUY THAT LOOKS AND SOUNDS A LOT LIKE CARY GRANT, BUT ISN'T.) MY ADVICE AND DEVICE I USE IS THIS FORMULA: IF IT LOOKS LIKE CARY GRANT, AND SOUNDS LIKE CARY GRANT, BUT YOU JUST HAVE THIS INKLING OF DOUBT, YOU CAN PRETTY MUCH BET THAT IT'S RAY MILLAND, WHO IS A TRULY FINE ACTOR IN HIS OWN RIGHT. THE BEST EXAMPLE THAT COMES TO MIND IS 1945's: THE LOST WEEKEND--TRULY THE FIRST HOLLYWOOD FILM TO DEAL REALLY, AND I MEAN REALLY, WITH THE RAVAGES OF TRUE ALCOHOLISM, DELERIUM TREMENS, SHAKES, SEIZURES, BLACKOUTS, ABOUND AND THIS IS NOT ONE FOR THE SQUEAMISH, BUT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT REALISM HERE: MILLAND'S CHARACTER'S WITHDRAWAL IS UTTERLY HORRIFYING, YET YOU HAVE TO WATCH. . . IN THE BACK OF YOUR MIND, YOU KNOW THAT IF YOU TURN AWAY, OR GO TO THE RESTROOM, YOU'LL MISS THE MINDSET AND CONTINUITY THAT BILLY WILDER HAS UNLEASHED UPON YOU--AND IN THE END YOU KNOW AND SHOULD BE GRATEFUL, NOT ONLY THAT IT GOT PASSED THE CENSOR'S BOARD, BUT THAT BILLY WILDER HAD THE GUTS TO CRAM THIS MUCH NEEDED "MEDICINE" DOWN THE VIEWERS' COLLECTIVE THROAT, SAYING IN EFFECT: THIS COULD HAPPEN TO ANYBODY . . . EVEN THE BEST PEOPLE OF SOCIETY WHO HAVE BEEN REJECTED FOR SLAVING AWAY AT THEIR ART OR SKILL TRYING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THIS WORLD GONE WRONG . . . IN FACT THE MAJORITY OF ALCOHOLICS AND CHEMICALLY DEPENDENT PEOPLE ARE KIND GENTLE SOULS ON THE INSIDE, THAT JUST COULDN'T OR DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO COPE WITH THE CRUELTY THEY SAW IN THE WORLD. As I was watching it tonight on TCM, my wife was listening in the other room, and said, "Is that Cary Grant?" She actually thought the movie was "Father Goose", 'cause she could here him calling her "Zu-zu." There was a similarly named character in that movie, which indeed is one of my favorites of all time.

Excellent directorial debut by Billy Wilder. This film also contains my favorite Ginger Rogers performance (at least so far).

very smooth for a debut.
