An ardent Breton enthusiast got me on Nerval and then later when the stakes were raised and the wine gone: this freaky French horror flick. About an artist and his possessed hand. Spooooooky.

Pierre Fresnay is classy in the lead.
A massively underrated actor.

I just seen this movie for the first time on TCM,and I also found it strangely eerie,and sort of a time capsule creep out.I kept thinking there was a war on and france was occupied at the time,I think.A well done movie for its time.
