I actually found this movie spooky. If I would have seen this as a kid I think it would have frightened me..especially as a kid back in 1942. I like the creepy atmosphere and the make-up was quite good.

I agree. It was pretty well done and just a year after The Wolfman which had a similar atmosphere.
