SABU

HOW (or should i ask "why") IS IT POSSIBLE FOR ONE SINGLE HUMAN BEING TO BE SO PHYSICALLY BEAUTIFUL & VISUALLY STUNNING!?

reply

Well - speaking from experience, let me just say . . .

(just kidding)

Ever since I was a little girl in the Fifties, I truly have loved this actor, who likely was my first crush before I knew about such things. To this day, I still believe he is one of the most beautiful men in filmdom.

I saw a documentary about him once. The lady who became his wife spoke of how she had had a crush on him since the first moment she saw him and could never have expected to meet him, let alone the two of them falling in love. Somehow, it was nice knowing that.

I still recall seeing "Sabu and the Magic Ring" at a summer matinee. Many years later, I added it to my videotaped collection of Sabu films. Somehow, even in those films near the end of his career, when budgets were low and scripts weren't the best, his presence makes them worth viewing.

"The Jungle Book", "The Thief of Bagdad", "Black Narcissus"... *SIGH*

Sabu was actually a heterosexual and would not have been interested in your advances... plus he is dead and is not looking so hot these days. Say,have you checked out Walt Whitman?.... he is dead too, but he will even kiss you back!

reply

Dead Walt will kiss you back? How did you determine this?

reply

Who here is writing about "advances"?! Did someone delete a post? The OP is expressing admiration for a beautiful human being. Are you mistranslating that?

I'm very confused about your odd remarks that seem to be attacking someone. Very strange indeed...

The OP lists his username as Jim..., I think the person who responded that Sabu was a hetero was addressing the assumption that the op being male and expressing what a handsome man Sabu was should be aware that he didn't lean that way. Some people just take things too far, and turn what was probably innocent admiration into something sexual. I didn't see it that way myself, but maybe I'm being naïve.

It's entirely possible that I am missing the point of your message.

If you can believe it, I saw this movie today for the first time (at age 42)! I was at my dad's and, as always, we were watching TCM. This was on, and I couldn't take my eyes off Sabu. I have never seen such a beautiful person. He looked flawless to me!

reply

If you haven't seen it, I definitely urge you to see a film released two years before this: "The Thief of Bagdad". It's an exquisitely filmed story, just dazzling. I swear that nearly every scene could be framed. I feel that way about a lot of "Jungle Book", too.

Sabu... *sigh* I enjoy all of his films and continue being a devoted fan.

The reason is because androgyny is so perfectly balanced here. At least in "Jungle Book", to study his face (the whipping scene) you can very easily go back and forth visually seeing male and female features fading in and out.
Add general beauty, long hair on top of that and an athletic 18 year old male frame and you can't go wrong.

Yes, you can have your Clark Gable's and Cary Grant's, etc. Sabu was one of the most attractive male stare ever. What a gorgeous body too! And yes, I am a gay male, but I don't usually find eastern Indian men attractive.

I don't have any opinion regarding his physical attributes but I do know he was magic on the screen, Somehow his innocence always came through and with that exotic accent and appearance, the viewer was immediately transported into a mythical world. " The Thief of Baghdad" was always my favorite endeavor and hopefully children a 100 years from now will revel in the beauty and magic he was able to create. A very unique actor !

I was only very young when I saw this movie. It was an instant crush on Sabu. Even as young as I was, I couldn't believe such an exotic human being could exist. Still harbour memories of the first time I saw him.😍
