skirt blowing scene

There was a skirt-blowing scene in this movie about 12 years before Monroe made such action iconic! I wonder why noone comments on this action.

I'm guessing it's because it was a quick shot of an extra as the camera pans across the room, whereas Monroe was the star in The Seven Year Itch and it was more than a passing shot; it was pivotal to the scene and sexy, not a comical moment like in this movie.

The "skirt blowing" scene - or something like it - was actually used in several movies well before The Seven Year Itch. It's even in a 1900-1910 film (the name of which I've forgotten at the moment)!!! The NYC subways were infamous for blowing up a woman's skirt if she wasn't careful. The MM turn is largely famous because it was hyped as a media event when it was filmed and the image used on the film's poster - there was even a building-size image of Marilyn with dress in the air to hype the film when first released! (The newsreel of this can be seen in several MM documentaries).

Disappointed in the lack of slips.
