Be careful about the Criterion price!

Since Criterion announced the release of I Married a Witch, there has been a lot of confusion about the disc's retail price.

Criterion -- which presumably knows how much it's selling it for -- lists the retail prices of the DVD at $19.99 and the Blu-ray at $29.99 -- each $10 under the usual Criterion retail cost, though there have been other discs priced at that level, such as the recent releases of Jubal and Gate of Hell.

However, some sites list the DVD and Blu at $29.99 and $39.99 retail, respectively -- the normal Criterion price, but incorrect here. They then "discount" the discs to prices about four or five dollars higher than the full retail.

Classicflix and Movies Unlimited list them at the higher prices, while Amazon has it right. I haven't seen others, and some sites still don't have the title listed yet.

Hopefully everyone will get on the same page at some point, but as of this date (7/19/13) before pre-ordering be sure you check around and get the correct price.

My criterion was 10 or 11 bucks brand new

Yeah, everybody eventually got on the same page with the $19.99/$29.99 retail prices.

Right now (11/10/13) Barnes & Noble is holding one of its twice-yearly 50%-off sales on Criterion titles. I bought IMAW for $8.99 -- half off plus the extra 10% membership discount. Since Criterion switched to DVD/Blu-ray combos beginning in November 2013 there won't be any more Criterion discs as inexpensive as this or The Uninvited, also released in October at the same prices.

Thank you so much for telling me the 50% off has started again! I went and bought The Uninvited and On The WaterFront for really cheap since there's the 50% off and I had those 20% off coupons + my 10% discount!

You're welcome. I think the sale lasts until Nov. 25, but someone told me it goes an extra week, until Dec. 2. Thank you for reminding me to use my B&N coupons. I always seem to forget about them. Nice to know you can combine all the various discounts.

The B&N sale is on again right now (11/10/2016)... ☺

Yep, every November, and also each June or July. And they've always had the right price of I Married a Witch. Oh, and after a short and unsuccessful experiment with dual Blu-ray/DVD sets, Criterion has long since gone back to issuing separate releases of each.

Think that about catches us all up after three years.... 
