I saw the colorized verision once and it was stunning. I know most the copies out there are black and white. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the film in color? who distributes it? The ones at Target seem to be in black and white. Thanks.
I also enjoy the colourized version. I know many people prefer black and white films to be in black and white, and that is certainly the case for certain movies, but I think the colour actually enhances the experience for this film.
However, the colourized version can be harder to find. It's only available on the 3-disc Collector's Edition (not the Special Edition that is available in most stores). It's more expensive, but you can find it online. Here's an example: http://www.amazon.com/Holiday-Inn-Three-Disc-Collectors/dp/B001DXS4E2/ ref=sr_1_1_twi_1?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1416324988&sr=1-1 &keywords=holiday+inn+colour+dvd
You might be able to find it for cheaper if you look on ebay or other sites. But it's a nice set. It has a brief but interesting featurette on the colourizing process, and also comes with the soundtrack.
I went to sell some old tv sets at local place near me. And would you guess what was on the shelf there? The three disc set! I did not even go looking for it. The best part it was 8 bucks! That is half the price Target is charging for the one disc! On Ebay and Amazon it fetches for almost 80 bucks on some bids! It was a total steal!
Also I agree with what you said about teh color vs bw for this film.
I normally stick with the black and white. But it looks great i cant wait to put the tree up and then my feet up and enjoy this movie again!
I bought the Bluray and am watching the Colorized version now. Very well done. (I confused this movie with "White Christmas" because Bing is in that too.)
