I'm confused. I just watched this film. Did the witness who was killed actually know anything? Why did the Bendix character kill him?

I'm confused. I just watched this film. Did the witness who was killed actually know anything? Why did the Bendix character kill him?

Witness was killed to frame Madvig.

Remember the scene where Varna mentions to Ed that Sloss came to him after Madvig kicked him out? Sloss mentioned to Varna that he saw Taylor and Madvig arguing on streets the night of murder since Sloss lives nearby.

Madvig was bringing in Sloss to send him on a vacation, out of town, so he wouldn't testify.

Him getting killed means more rumors about Madvig getting rid of a witness.
