"While drving in the car they passed a sign saying they were 55 miles from Philadelphia. Shortly after Ann Sheridan said they were close to where Washington crossed the Delaware river. I think that would be a 35 mile difference since Trenton is about 20 miles from Philadelphia."

Maybe you should get a life, you think???

I have no idea how you drive, but Washington's Crossing isn't exactly 20 miles from Phila. Even Trenton isn't. Look at Mapquest. Then you have to realize they didn't have the same freeways and highways and such when this film was made.

I lived in Jersey all my life and as far as I know...Philadelphia has always been where it was.

I think 55 miles is probably very logical.

The sign is at an "T" intersection and indicates that turning left will take them to New York (City) 35 miles away while turning right will take them to Philadelphia 55 miles away. New York City and Philadelphia are about 85 miles apart along the New Jersey Turnpike, the route they are most likely to take. Along this route one will pass Trenton, New Jersey as well as the point about five miles below Trenton where General Washington and the Continental Army crossed the Delaware River.

I think you need to practice your map reading skills.
