Burke v Corbett

A superbly realistic fight sequence between Flynn and the actor playing Jack Burke in which they seem to be landing fairly heavy blows on each other. Beats modern fight sequences out of site.

Problem is that the realism goes out of the window when Burke is counted out in the second round of what is supposed to be an exhibition bout. According to Corbett's biography, it is the Brit that hands Corbett the boxing lesson, as Fitz was later to do. It seems that Burke outclassed Corbett for most of the bout and slackened off in the last few rounds to prevent embarrassment to Corbett. This was to be as expected of course, as Corbett was a amateur at this point and Burke was a hardened professional.

Had a younger, fitter Fitz managed to beat Sullivan, I doubt that Corbett would have ever held the title being too light a puncher.

"Why don't you just call it operation ass-cream? You ass."
