Why Change Names

As an effective film about the life of RJ Mitchell I was sorry to see they changed the name of his wife from Florence to Diana as played by Rosumund John. Shame. Wonder why they needed to do that?

reply

Perhaps she didn't give permission for her name to be used. According to ancestry.com she died in 1946, this film was made in 1942, and they would have needed her permission.

I'm on the road less traveled...

That's my thinking too.

The charactery of Jeffrey Crisp is also a conglomeration of a whole bunch of characters including Henri Baird (S.4), John Boothman, George Stainforth and even Mutt Summers.

I'm sure there are other characters whose names are changed for reasons of permission or because they were representative of a bunch of people.
