Women and children to the boats!

I liked this as an action/war movie for a long time. I recently watched it again and one thing that really stuck out was the way women were portrayed. Judith Andersen was on of the leaders. Ann Sheridan was mentally tougher than Flynn and Huston after the rape. The line that really stuck with me was when they were going to do the human wave assault against the hotel and the doctor noticed that their young, pretty maid was right with him holding a gun. He says "they said women and children to the boats!" she says "no, they said women with children to the boats!" and kept moving forward and the doctor accepted her as an equal. Then of course the final shot comes from Ann Sheridan not Flynn. With his regard the movie is about 70 years ahead of it's time. It's really nice to be able to watch the movie multiple times and pick up different things because so much is happening.
