Best Cartoon Ever Made

Severals reasons make me think The Dover Boys at Pimento is the best cartoon ever made

1. The Incredible Characters : Dorothy, Dan Backslide, the barman, Tom, Dick, Larry, The telegraph Boy, The Athlete from P.U. All characters bring their own touch of absurd humor.

2. The Music. Incredible piano riffs are played by Carl Stalling. Incredible.

3. The Bar. The smoke fog over the pool table is an instant classic scene. The scene with the shooters featuring Dan and the Barman is extremely funny.

4. The hide and seek game

5. The Telegraph Scout (incredible)

6. The three bicycles

7. Dorothy hovering over the ground

8. Dan Backslide getting in disuise

I agree. This has got to be the best animated short IN THE HISTORY of film. Damn, I thought I was the only one to have been captivated by its brilliance!

Your list of reasons is pretty coherent with mine, but I must add a few:

9. The line "I'll steal it! NO ONE WILL EVERY KNOW!!"

10. The introduction:
Out and away, the most popular fellows at old P.U., are the three Dover Boys: Tom, the fun-loving leader of the trio; Dick, a serious lad of eighteen summers, plus a winter in Florida (as related to in "The Dover Boys in the Everglades"); and Larry, the youngest of the three jerks-- um, uh, brothers.

I wish I could find this on DVD. Man, to see this digitally remastered would prove that there is a God, and that truly beautiful things are able to appear in everyday life.

Excellent, but I must correct the first poster's comment. The lovely lady [so NOT!] in distress is the dearly dainty Dora-as in that freakin Expolorer-NOT DOrothy=-Standpipe, and is NOT Bea Benadaret as some have noted on Wiki and possibly, here, but Sarah Berner. That's John McLeish as narrator imitating radio's "Throckmorton P.Gildersleeve"[the GREAT Gilderslevve to you][Harold Peary]. The chubby guy, Dick, looks a bit like Judd Apatow regular Jonah Hill today to my eyes! LOL

How could anyone fail to mention that eccentric old gentleman who keeps popping up and interrupting the narrative throughout the entire cartoon? I have watched this short so many times that I have lost count, and still laugh my ___ off every time he appears, especially in the closing scene when it is he who ends up winning Dora's hand, and they shuffle off into the sunset together.

This cartoon and One Froggy Evening are masterpieces of humour, unsurpassed by anything done by Warner Brothers, or any studio, for that matter.

Every second of this is burned into my memory with crystal clarity forever! I still lose my mind every time I see it. They sure don't make them like this anymore. Inspired on so many levels. Masterfully made in all its aspects. It's...perfect. uwu
