One interesting thing for me about this film was its explicit reference to the removal of Chamberlain as PM in the wake of the Norway debate in Parliament. I would've thought in the spirit of wartime unity that the subject would've been avoided.

Talking of which, it's always amusing to see how British and American war films invariably steer clear of Soviet involvement in the war (regardless of whether they'd yet joined the Allies post-June 1941). In TDWD, the reporter, Frank Lockwood (played by Richardson), is shown as being in Finland where he's 'just made a tour of the frontier'. What else can this be but a reference to the Winter War between the Finns and Soviets?
