Pretty Worthless Flag Waving Piece of Crap

Unless you like looking at Gene Tierney (who looks nothing like the daughter of a Chinese father).

It's easy to look at propaganda films made during the war and ponder their artificiality, jingoism, racism, caricatures and curious plots. "China Girl" isn't too bad an example, and deserves high marks for its sets, and perhaps it would be perverse to comment that the two female leads are almost too attractive - and how curious it is that both fell instantly for Johnny.

That was quite a day that Johnny had - escaping, avoiding anti-aircraft fire, being sacked, meeting two fantastic women, drinking heavily - no wonder he had problems waking up the next day.

I'm not sure why Fifi and Weed contrived to encourage George to escape, with several Japanese guards being killed in the process. I don't know how close the Japanese were to Mandalay at this time, but Weed seemed to be able to quickly return to confer with the Japanese commander - and then get back to the city.

And Johnny perching on the aircraft wing to photograph the Burma Road was ridiculous.

Usually I'm not keen on cute kids being included in this type of film, but Robert Blake did very well as Chandu.

By the standards of the time it's not too bad a film, though in its last third some of the scenes did seem to be over-long.

I agree. Worthless crap... even the tigers are phony looking. The worst part is someone who did the review gave the whole show away..... regular spoiler... Gary, that was not a review that was a spoiler that would have ruined a good movie. No problem though with this junk.
