I loved this movie, but when I got to the ending I was close to tears. Such a bleak, depressing and horrible ending. Irena made them think she's the one who got hit, and they will never know she still lives... 

The final line "She never lied to us" made it even sadder. Beautiful, perfect ending.

I remember it differently. Wasn't the panther from the zoo the one that got hit? And Irena died at the zoo grounds after getting stabbed by the blade and transformed as a dead panther herself. This is where Oliver and Alice found her and said the line "She never lied to us."

That's what I saw, but I sure like mattias' ending!
