Sign On Brick Pig's House

I saw this cartoon on Turner recently and noticed that the caption on a sort of "Keep Out" sign on the Brick Pig's house has been air-brushed out. Does anyone know what it is we aren't allowed to see there? Are the chronological chauvinists up to their usual no-good again? Like when then put "Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips" down the memory hole?

I recently saw this short at a resturant that shows Loony Tunes cartoons all day. The version I saw was uncut; the sign in question reads "No Dogs Allowed", but with 'Dogs' crossed out and 'Japs' written above it. "No Japs Allowed." My jaw hit the floor.

Of course, this was made in the early 1940s, long before the enforcement of civil rights and tolerance. Racial stereotyping just runs rampant in this short. Also, the version you saw may have a scene cut where a bomb is dropped on Tokyo; during the blast televison sets and electronic equipment fly at the screen!

I would watch this again and again if I had it. It really shows how our culture has changed...

There are good copies around on many dc hubs. I downloaded it last month, in the uncut version and top quality, with the bomb raid and so on (I'd heard about it three years ago and knew I had to see it). The war cartoons - both Tex and Disney - are one of the high points in animation shorts, inventive and with great snense of rhythm.
