George Sanders *rules* in this picture

Probably my favorite George Sanders role, along with The Portrait of Dorian Gray.

Despite the heavy makeup, I think he's the actor who gets to shine the most. It's not a particularly original part, but he makes the most out of it: the libidinous looks he gives to Maureen.. priceless! And his final sword fight with Tyrone was very good.

He's practically unrecognizable in the role. I never noticed how physically imposing he was when he played a cultured gentleman, but this film took advantage of his large frame and used it well.

I certainly didn't recognise him under that red beard at first. But it's his voice that gave him away eventually. The most physical role I've seen him play.

I'm quite a George Sanders fan, but I have to admit that I didn't even recognize him in this role...
