Beautiful and moving

I remember this being shown on BBC2 many years ago when I was young and even then being moved by the story and performance's , seeing it again nearly 42 years later as a middle aged man only made it more heartbreaking . What a film ! like others who have commented I was reduced to tears , this film deserves to be seen by more people , the performance by the boy is one of the best of any child actor I have seen . If you like gritty real life drama give this a try !
