Brilliant film

I've only seen 2 other De Sica films(Bicycle Thieves and Umberto D), and this is as great as those two. Definitely check this movie out if you like those movies.

I like how the movie is in 2 parts also. It surprised me when i saw that as watching it but thinking back, it works beautifully.

way ahead of its time. I loved it.

I can barely put into words how powerful that last scene is. Maybe I just relate to it too much, but it's hard to watch. This film is genius btw.

I watched it earlier today for the third time. I cried for the first time in my life while (watching a movie of course). Oy.

The Children are Watching Us was abosulutley fantastic to watch. What makes it more emotionally compelling is that we are shown the narrative mostly through Prico's perspective. The ending was powerful with the low angled long shot of Prico walking away after rejecting his Mother, it was perfectly done both technically and in performance.

"I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not".

Another De Sica masterpiece - Garden of the Finzi Continis, late in his career and in color. Also a devastating ending.

This was a great film. I'll have to see more of De Sica's filmography.

De Sica has many great movies, better than this too. He's the greatest director who ever lived.

-Umberto D
-Shoeshine
-Bicycle Thief
-The Roof
-Sunflower
-Two Women
