I love the visuals. With the sound turned down it's like the best of Miyazaki backgrounds. Some of the animation movement looks as fluid and natural today as -anything-. The colour effects are fantastically modern.

But the score? Yeeeesh. It's -so- pedestrian... especially the songs. THAT is what dates it and makes it 'American Corn Ball'. It's like having these genius modernist artists doing the visuals but with 'Up With People' doing the music.

Given the time, I can only wish they had used Korngold or the Wizard Of Oz people. Someone who could be as innovative as the art.

Why? I came into this game for the action, the excitement... Listen, kid, we're all in it together.

Exactly, and it's not dated at all. Choirs singing and orchestrated scores probably age better than any others

I agree. It's uninspired and actually drags the movie instead of elevating it.

I can name many songs from Snow White, Pinocchio, Dumbo, etc... I can't name a single song from Bambi. And this is within days of watching it! Completely and utterly forgettable songs sung by an invisible chorus.

Cannot agree at all. As a child, "April Showers" and the majestic music that plays during the first scene with Bambi's father cemented themselves in my mind for years to come. As an adult, I'm fond of "I Bring You a Song," in my opinion the most underrated Disney love song.

As always, different strokes.
