Would this be shown on TV nowadays?

I know that films like Holiday Inn are shown on TV with the blackface bits removed, because it doesn't affect the continuity.

But since removing the blackface from this film would confuse the viewer with regard to what's going on, does this mean that it probably won't get shown on TV due to political correctness and whatnot?

I don't think I've ever seen it broadcast...

no you cant show this on regular tv without the black and white minstrel numbers edited out-because somebody will complain-and of course there is the b/w film--regular tv will not show b/w material as the advertisement revenue wont be as much as a color vision film--i notice the female co-stars were very plain looking so judy can stand out--after a while--judy noticed this and this factor in some ways gave her a beauty complex =especially with stars like hedy lamarr-this was one of the factors that she couldnt cope with--and we all know what kept happening if you cant cope--as mickey rooney said--she took the destructive path-it was her decision....but she was very talanted

Really? I'm sure that the main five channels do show black and white films, normally in the daytime. The BBC can show whatever it wants, since there's no adverts on that. But I guess there's still ratings to consider.

I don't understand why people are put off watching films just because they're black and white, most of the ones I've seen have a charm about them that you just don't get with modern films.

I agree with the rest of your post, but am somewhat confused by it...

its been like that for years where commercial channels wont show b/w-its not about whats shown or content--its that folks watching it, these days have attention defecit-as soon as they see b/w--they will change channels without checking really content--the bbc might show it--then again--a film from tcm/mgm cost a lot of revenue even for the bbc to show it--so unless its a b/w documentary--
the audience have changed-the viewing demographics are different these days--if you say judy g or mickey rooney--most will say WHO?
but just about all tcm/mgm movies are worth viewing over and over-it came out of the movie factory, where the people learnt there craft-now the solo big stars are on yt-as vloggers--or be a star yourself on twitter by building up a followship--you dont have to have talent--just faceless people--what a futile/vain excercise--so thats where its at--greetings from melb aust-simon

I've never seen the blackface numbers deleted when they show these films. In fact, I think "BOB" is supposed to be shown on TCM sometime today. I just saw the movie trailer.

Also, b&w films and TV series are shown on many channels. I think the retro channels are on their way to taking over for networks, as many of us have grown tired of the programming offered.

TCM to their credit, always runs their films intact, although they will often address any controversies in their prologues (though they didn't in this most recent airing)

TCM always- ALWAYS- broadcasts films with blackface numbers intact (BOB, Babes in Arms, Holiday Inn, Swing Time, It's a Wonderful World, A Day at the Races, The Great Ziegfeld, Here Comes the Navy, The Jazz Singer, The Jolson Story) so I'm not sure what channel you were watching that would've deleted anything.

Just saw it on TCM, and the minstrel show could not be removed in any case--it's the entire grand finale.
