I watched this one to kill time and had no expectations whatsoever. I was very pleasantly surprised by the story and quarreling couple comedic elements. The scene where the girlfriend picks the boyfriend's blackheads is disturbingly amusing.
Also, why did the magician remind me of Danny Kaye?
The magician's facial features resemble Danny Kaye's, especially his nose, and his mannerisms, as well.

I watched it and I really liked it. I have liked all four Clouzot films that I've seen so far. I guess I am officially a fan now.

My girl friend did the same on me, and it was disturbing.
This is not Clouzot's best work, it shouldn't be rated as high.
I've no idea why more people aren't watching and enjoying the comedic intrigue in this film. Like Quai des Orfèvres there is much sexual frankness.
A bird sings and the mountain's silence deepens.share
Just watched it and found it works on many levels - as a mystery, comedy, and as a slice of Parisian life.
