What happened to Sheila Regan's sister?

Does anyone know what happened to the little sister of Sheila Regan (Hale)?
She is in the scene after Sheila gets her big break, and then is never
seen again. Or have scenes been deleted?

Hi,one can never be too rich or have too many friends. She must have went with her parents when Sheila sent them on an extended vacation.

(kinda spoiler)

I guess she just wasn't a significant part of the story except she should have been there when Sheila got sick, imo.

Her character, while small, could have been great. In the beginning, she acts like a Ziegfeld girl and everyone thinks it's adorable. It would have been great to see her at the end and have her hate the idea of Ziegfeld girls because of what happened to her sister. Missed opportunity.

In full agreement! I wonder if some scenes perhaps ended up on the cutting room floor, but a missed opportunity nonetheless. Still, I give the film a 9 out of 10, if only for the crafty portrayal of the wisdom that sudden fame and wealth is not a miracle cure for anything. Like the character of Slayton said, "you'll still end up where you're headed, only faster."

I disagree. I think the little sister's part was enough. She helped to give us a glimpse into Sheila's life and family. Everyone was happy for her and supportive. She was mentioned briefly later, as were the parents, but her brother was enough to represent the family. Had they shown more it could have been distracting and excessive. The point was made.

I disagree with this point too. Being a Ziegfeld girl did not make Sheila into what she became. Those were her own choices. In the movie that was the opportunity that changed things in Sheila's life but really it could have been anything. That, I felt, was the point and we did not need to see the little sister turning sour on the job to get that across.

Had she played her cards right, Sheila really could have had her cake and eat it too. I believe Patsy pointed out to her that the job was short-lived. She could have enjoyed the experience, made some money to help her family and get a few things she always wanted, continue seeing Gil then step aside to marry at some point.

Like a lot of people in that position, Sheila was blinded by the desire for riches and wealth. She was willing to let go of everything and everyone else that mattered in her life in order to get those things. It wasn't the job, it was her immaturity, greed, and lack of resilience that got her into trouble. Gil's jealousy and stubbornness didn't help her case either.
