question in scene after one of surgeries

There was a bizarre shot about 43 mintues in of what looked like her arm bandaged to the side of her face. I figured it was a healing thing for skin to be up against the wound or something, but I've never seen anything like that before. Any ideas?

I too notice it, and finally decided the arm was to provide passive weight onto the wound to help healing, since the arm skin didn't seem to be in contact with the facial skin.

You are right. It is done to prevent her from rolling onto the wound in her sleep and mashing her fragile face into the mattress. If she rolls onto the awkwardly-placed arm, she wakes up and rearranges herself. It is called a "sequestered brace".

Thanks for answering-I too wondered if I saw it correctly. Makes complete sense!

It was supposed to be a skin graft from her arm. Very difficult especially in those days.
