A Woman's Face

I saw this movie as a child and would love to see it again but it never appears on TV. Does anyone know why and what can be done to bring it to the TV screen.

If you have cable, go on Turner Classic Movies' website (www.tcm.com) and request it in the "Request a Movie" section. Not that it will do any good -- I've requested it several times. But maybe if more people request it...

It's available on vhs, and soon, I hope, dvd. It was a revalation, and improved my opinion of Crawford as an actor. And I was absolutely flabbergasted by Marjorie Main's performance, so different from the Ma Kettle character most people remember!

it's rumored to be in the joan crawford volume 2 collection coming in 2007

reply

It has been confirmed that A Woman's Face will be available on DVD sometime in 2007 as part of the 2nd Joan Crawford Collection. Also, Flamingo Road will be another DVD in this box set. No word on exact release date or full list of titles in the collection.

It will be released on February 12, 2008.

well.. even though i always have a copy of TCM's schedule, I didn't know this would be on last night (Nov. 8 - 2:00 am) Needless to say, i woke up around 2:00 am and turned on TCM - the movie had only been on about 15 minutes, but i was hooked. I didn't ever doze back off!! I love Melvyn Douglas.. and most any movie he's in! I also like early Joan Crawford (pre-shoulder pads and big lipstick!) Highly recommend this movie. Unusual, suspensful and I couldn't believe that was Marjorie Main. I detected something in the voice, but had to watch the credits. Needless to say - it was hard to get up at 6:30 after watching the whole movie!

Criterion has reissued via the Criterion Collection. It can be purchased or as the previous poster suggested, get it from your local library. I got it from my library and several other Crawford movies from this collection. Great quality b/w films!
