Did anyone else here notice ...

that Larry Talbot's Cane looked exactly like the one character André Linoge had from the TV Mini Series Movie - " Stephen King's Storm of the Century " from 1999 ?  

reply

Yes! Nice catch. Obviously it was a homage the Universal classic we all love. Stephen King probably saw this way before all of us and I'm sure it still haunts his dreams!

reply

I didn't even put it together until tonight   watched this movie version for the very first time ever on Sven ( great film ! IMPO  ) . SK is quite a clever guy   . Thanks so much antonasmodeus for your reply  .

H.P. Lovecraft is my absolute fave but I will always regard Stephen King the greatest horror writer of modern times. Great to see classics like this making their influence in horror cinema. Check out "The Howling" to see even more lycanthropic shenanigans and tributes!

reply

" The Howling " is another favorite of mine as well  . The werewolf makeup was just as excellent as in this film too .   " American Werewolf in London " from 1981 was another great one for classic werewolf flicks  . Thanks again antonasmodeus for your reply and the movie recommendation  .

reply

No problem! Until the next Svengoolie, sleep well and I hope not too many werewolves invade your dreams!

reply

 I'm actually watching on TCM right now the comedy movie " High Anxiety " from 1977  . That's so funny you mentioned " werewolves invade your dreams " cause I just got through watching that scene with a patient having nightmares of werewolves   . Thanks again antonasmodeus and see you on the next Svengoolie movie board  .

This is such a fun topic. For the record. In my opinion the 3 greatest werewolf movies ever made are in order;

1. The Wolf Man (1941)

2. An American Werewolf in London

3. The Howling

Thanks for all of your posts under this classic movie.

With great power comes great responsibility.

You're most welcome Taylorfirst1 and thank you for this fun topic reply of yours here too  .

It reminded me of Barnabas Collins's wolf head cane on Dark Shadows.

Don't know if it's a fact for sure horror2 ( just a wild guess here  ) . Perhaps it was the same designer or another who had kind permission and access to duplicate another cane from the original design for that wolf head cane ?

It could be the same exact prop from this movie , the SK TV Movie , or even Dark Shadows as well  . I guess we will never know for sure   .

Quite a nice movie prop indeed though - very fancy cane   .

Thanks horror2 for your reply  .

Also here are a couple of pics of the different canes I found on Google Images :

(So it appears not be the same exact wolf head cane but very similar and all very nicely crafted just the same )

They all three look similar in my opinion and great.

reply

I hope this " Wolf Head Cane " which ever one is chosen will be used again in another great horror flick soon  .

Now I wished I had one of my own ( such quality designs  )   .

It's too bad one of these canes was never used on the 1982 Creepshow Movie short story - " Father's Day " that would have been a perfect touch as well  .

reply

Yes instead of the marble ashtray beat him to death with a cane

reply

Whoa horror2  ! That would be like an eerie storyline parallel ( or homage of sorts ?  ) with " SK's Storm of the Century "  .
If it was decided to change out the props for the murder weapon last minute of course  .

Actually I thinking specifically of that close-up scene with demanding old Nathan Grantham . When he was smashing his cane down on the armrests of the chair he was sitting in and screaming at daughter Bedelia - " Where's my cake Bedelia ! It's Father's Day ! "   
