Wait, Lugosi is Dracula and the wolf man???

HAHA! Thats awesome!! This was my first time watching Wolfman and I really liked it. I thought it had a great story and Im quite interested in seeing the remake now, seeing just how it stacks up! Been really enjoying the classic universal flicks overall and this one was no different. I can see why these became so iconic in their day and have stood the test of time! I also love seeing alot of the same actors/actresses in these films too!

Overall, A solid 8 out of 10 and Watching classic horror is super fun!! ANyone else watching films like this for the first time?

Nope, been watching them for years. lol
the remake tends to be hated by all but I really enjoyed it, it was monster movie.

Cool! And yeah, most original horror movie "snobs" hate their remake counterparts but that definitely isnt me. Thanks for sharing!

I didn't care for those Mummy remakes, but then I've never been a bug fan of the Mummy. The only version of the Wolf man remake I had seen is the directors cut and quite enjoyed it, im not sure what people wanted or expected?

Ok the fight at the end was a bit over the top but other than that it was dark, Gothic, violent, gory, paid tribute to the original and was different enough. Maybe I need to watch it again but I liked it more than the original.

Bela Lugosi is wonderful. I've loved his performances in everything I've seen of his from Dracula, to White Zombie, and even Plan 9 From Outer Space. Although his role was small in this movie, it was very memorable and one of the best parts of the film. This is probably my favorite horror movie of all time. I love all the Universal horror movies and also the Hammer film versions of them (Curse of Frankenstein, Horror of Dracula, Curse of the Werewolf, etc.)

Death lives in the Vault of Horror!

He payed the Frankenstein Monster, too.

He was also the only actor in the "Universal Horrors" who had his own personal monster - the wolf man/Larry Talbot - that was never played by any other in a sequel.

(Dracula: Lugosi, Chaney and Carradine -
the Frankenstein monster: Karloff, Chaney, Lugosi, Glenn Strange -
The mummy/Kharis: Tom Tyler, Chaney...the Karloff mummy was a different one, so maybe you could say that one belonged exclusively to him, but that one had no sequels)

Poe! You are...avenged!

Except the Wolf Man, who was only ever played by Chaney.

reply

Thats not true. Michael J Fox also played a wolf man

Bela doesn't play vampires or wolves, those creatures are just other forms of Lugosi

so many movies, so little time

I think Lon Chaney Jr. is the wolf man.
I remember when I saw this as a kid on TV it creeped the living crap out of me.

reply

What he means is Lugosi plays the first wolf in this movie who bites Lon Chaney Jr.

reply

I don't remember the movie at all, but I thought it was a real wolf that made the original bite? I was in the single digits when I first saw this though.
