The Brothers and Sisters of the Toda family
(1941) The Brothers and Sisters of the Toda Family
Watching this film, it seems kind of like a precursor to Tokyo Story, and it is the longest film by Ozu of the early ones that I have seen, so it allows for more time for the story and characters to develope. Also, it has the largest cast of all of the early films that I have seen, with more important characters than even A Story of Floating Weeds.
I must comment on the music first. Its truly beautiful and very poigniant. Right now I'm still taking all of it in, but I can already see that this is a film that demands repeat viewings.
