Elizabeth Patterson KILLS it!

In every scene, in every line, this woman just absolutely kills it. She is my favorite part of the movie. I loved the movie from the first time I ever saw it, which was embarrassingly later in life. I had heard the story and we read the book in school, I think, or maybe did the play? But I never had bothered to watch the movie for some reason.

I watched it dozens of times. I can imagine it was pretty wild when released in 1941. Charlie Grapewin and Marjorie Rambeau are good... Gene Tierney and Ward Bond are good... Not so sure about Dude... he may have been the only miscast character... but Patterson nails the role of Ada Lester like she was made for it.

"..mm... bout... 17-18 head." --GOLD!
