I like him in his Shakepeare movies, but here he showed so little range, he was exactly the same in every scene. Wooden, flat, boring and quite frankly, annoying.
Also, i'm surprised at how little chemistry he had onscreen with Vivien Leigh. I think it's often the case with real life couples, for some reason. Does anyone agree?

shareI thought they had decent chemistry, actually. Not out of this world like she had with Clark Gable for example, but it wasn't nonexistent.
As for Olivier's performance, I think his Nelson was supposed to be a wooden, flat type as opposed to Emma's vibrance. She even makes fun of him for it in the scene when he declares his love for her. So to me it seems that he hit the mark.
