Historical accuracy

Although much of the film was historically accurate the beginning of the film shows her in prison in Calais. She was in debtors prison in England following the death of her lover, Admiral Horatio Nelson, but escaped to Calais with her and Nelson's daughter following their release. Prior associates with her Grenville and George Romney, were mentioned but not indicated was she had been the mistress to both. The sea battle scene in which Nelson was killed was was very well done considering this film was released in 1941. The film was surprisingly fairly loyal to the actual history. Most historical films now take license by altering facts to be more entertaining which is unfortunate since reality is often more entertaining.
