Will any interpretation of Superman be any better than this?

This cartoon is just too good for words.

I don't mean to slight what this cartoon accomplished, but I preferred the wonderful Bruce Timm 90s animated series, which was really the show that introduced and developed the great continuity and major story arcs that would flow over to different episodes and shows within the fantastic DCAU (Batman: TAS was great, but didn't have many continuing story arcs aside from Ra's Al Ghul episodes in the final seasons).

Maybe it's not a fair comparison because Timm had so much history to choose from to develop the stories for his particular incarnation of Superman, but he did it spectacularly nonetheless, and that's probably why alongside with JL/Justice League Unlimited (which was in many ways really a sequel to Superman: TAS) it remains my favorite interpretation of Supes.

There's no arguing that the 1990's Superman: TAS was great, I just have tremondous respect for the Fleischer cartoons and felt like commending it for standing the test of time with it's unique visuals and accurate depiction of Superman at that specific era. Agree 100% though, Bruce Timm did spectacularly in his interpretation of the Modern Superman, and it's probably a tie in terms of which cartoon I find more favorable.

Well out of ALL the Superman incarnations I have to say my favourite is definately the Superman films (STM and II).

These cartoons, however, are definately the greatest Superman animated series ever produced. Nothing has come close in terms of movement, story arcs and originality...Okay, I know its hard to be original when everything has been done, but at least these cartoons used various differing villains and scenarios for their stories.

The Fliecher Superman cartoons are more works of art than anything else thats been produced in the Superman animated franchise.

Star Wars Episode IV.V: The Holiday Special.

This is definitely my favorite interpretation outside of the comics. Its raw, basic Superman, before mainstays like Lex Luthor or kryptonite or even heat vision and flying were established, in some of the most beautiful animation ever made. The Fleischers taught everyone else how you bring Superman to life.

In my opinion, these cartoons represent THE DEFINITIVE SUPERMAN.
Better than the serials.
Better than series.
Better than the movies.
Better than all the other aniated Superman incarations.

Superman is very much so a product of his time. These cartoons accuratly reflect the time, context and zeitgeist in which Superman was created.
No interpretation of Superman will be better than this.

I agree, except for the last sentence. After all, who knows what the future will hold?

Courage, men! We've not sunk before, and we'll not sink now!

The COMICS are the definitive Superman, Adaptation are adaptations, none are definitive of anything.
