Sullivan's Travels/O Brother Where Art Thou/Playful Pluto triple bill

If you were running a repertory cinema and were showing a double/triple bill of Sullivan's Travels and O Brother Where Art Thou plus the Disney short playful Pluto, where on the programme would you put Playful Pluto? Before Sullivan's Travels, straight after Sullivan's travels and before the interval, or after the interval just before O Brother Where Art Thou?

reply

At the very end, maybe?

reply

Yes the end best as a much needed pick me up by then.
Travels is wonderful. Hadn't thought of a double with Brother but that's an
interesting combo. I've not had good experience seeing 2 strong UNSEEN films
back to back tho. Need a break to let the impact of a Travels settle in before
rushing onto the next one, esp given that stark finale to Travels.
But when have seen them then I can be more objective and comparative.
More lightweight fare like 3 Planet of Apes in row, 2 Cannonball Runs, or
2 Eastwood cowboy shooters that's no problem.
Just that the profound films take soaking in the first go round.

reply

There would be breaks between the features to allow people to go to the toilet etc.

What? No Room For HOLD BACK TOMORROW?? (The title of one of John Sullivan's not-so-good pictures that was actually used 14 years later as the title of a not-so-good Cleo Moore movie.)

Normally the cartoon comes first, then the "secondary" feature and finally the main film so I presume it would be

PLAYFUL PLUTO
O BROTHER WHERE ART THOU?
SULLIVAN'S TRAVELS

I was hoping to see Ants in your Plants. Maybe Antz (1998) will do?
