This story takes place in the Ozarks, but they have "Trail of the Lonesome Pine" in the advertising at the top of the IMDb title page. Trail of the Lonesome Pine take place in Virginia!

The movie bears NO resemblance to The Shepherd of the Hills book by Harold Bell Wright. And what a shame! It's a beautiful story! No wonder the people who live here in the REAL Ozarks were fighting mad about it! Not many mountains and pine trees here, either!
