I'm related to him on my father's side of the family. Alvin was like my grandfather's 5th cousin or something. It's not really close, but still worth mentioning.

My aunts father was sergant yorks first cousin.

If you've studied much about genealogy, you know that just about anybody is a 5th cousin to just about anybody else.

It's always cool and inspirational to have someone like that in your family background. Was always told my great aunt was General MacArthur's wife, and as a huge history guy (with a degree), it's inspiring. Was in Japan on a student exchange, age 15, had to mention that to my host family. Not sure if their response was what I was expecting, lol.
