Is this going to be released soon on DVD, maybe sometime in the near future or when?

If so - It should be the uncut version - restored from John Garfield's personal print.

Don't know when it will be released but it will play on TCM 15 February 2010.

I have read that 7 mins are missing and the studio is waiting and hoping that this footage will show-up. I am very eager to see this movie restored and released on (Blue-ray) DVD.

Me too this movie is a classic! Great story and performances by all the actors..

I have the TCM version on DVD but would buy the Studio released version on DVD or Blu-Ray in an instant..

Doesn't get any better than this...

There is a Spanish DVD release of this movie in region code 2 with the title "El Lobo De Mar". The menus are in Spanish, but it has the English audio track.

....Sadly the Spanish version you speak of, has been tampered with.
OK, but should be the theatrical original running time but is not!
But, better than nothing, for the moment that is....
