I hate movies like this. Murdering animals shouldn't be in a movie. It gives people the wrong idea. When I saw the kitten peeping out of his briefcase I knew the rest of the movie was going to be rotten for me. I love animals and don't like to hear of them being murdered in films. Enough of this goes on in the real world. No wonder Robert Montgomery wasn't very good in this movie. He probably didn't like the part he was playing !!!!!!!!!
shareI tend to agree, though such plot elements contribute to the angst without which many movies would have no bite at all. Readers may recall a duck being slaughtered in the 1959 version of Journey to the Center of the Earth. One friend mentioned there was no way she could recommend that movie because of that one drawback. But as much as most of us deplore such things, we have to admit it probably occurs way too much in real life.

However, please bear in mind that there are more than enough people and organizations to watch over and protect people, but unfortunately, there are not nearly enough to do the same for animals. Not to mention that we are all entitled to our opinions, even you, there really is no reason to call someone stupid just because they have a different opinion than you.
I didn't see anyone writing to not eat meat, but aren't we all opposed to senseless cruelty no matter if it directed to people or animals?
The man was mad. The kitten was innocent. It was horrible that he did what he did but that was the point.
If he was a sane man and did that I'd be all over the movie and angry as heck about the kitten's death too.
But let's face it, who does that sort of thing if they aren't mad or just an incredibly evil person?

shareWait, are the people in this thread really arguing against the movie because of the "killing" of a movie kitten that is really NOT killed (because its a fictional movie and not reality) and the killing is not even done onscreen???? I mean, the character is so crazy he drives his best friend and wife away from him after framing his best friend for murder - I think the killing of the kitten is meant to be (1,2,3) Foreshadowing that he will do something worse later on.... We all love animals and don't want to see them hurt. But if you never went to see a movie where an animal was hurt in fictional fashion - because movies are FAKE - then you would miss out on thousands of great movies. I think we need a little perspective here.

I'm just against ruining expensive leather briefcases by transporting incontinent kittens to work. I have seen it countless times on the subway, and I think it's a crime. Just think of the smell once he opened his briefcase to get at his important crossword puzzles!
