Locations

It says here on IMDb that it's mostly shot in Illinois and Wisconsin. The opening scenes with the mountains, fjords, rivers and small houses, I could not for the love of *beep* understand that it was shot in the US. I do know that there are mountains and places in the USA that could pass off as Norway, but it was just so typical norwegian landscape that I started to wonder. Do you really have mountains and fjords like that in Wisconsin and Illinois or could this be shot outside the US? For the record this could have been miniature or some kind of special effects, but considering this was a low-budget movie I don't think they could have made such great effects. Anyway, I would really like to know:-)
