'Guaca-mala' - Intentional gag?

There's some debate in our household about whether the BRIGHT RED "guaca-mala sauce" was an intentional gag or not.

Yeah, it's here under "goofs," but I'm not convinced.

I'll grant you that middle America in 1941 probably didn't have a clue what guacamole was yet. But the movie was made in Southern California, and the girls were supposed to be from Texas.

I think it was an "in" joke, slipped in under the radar for an added bit of silliness.
