Did Billy Wilder see this?

The opening of the film (Susan emerging from the fog) was "aped" (sorry) three years later in DOUBLE INDEMNITY (the man on crutches)-made by the same studio (Paramount). Also, Skipper the dog resembled Zero, Bogart's dog in Warner Brothers' HIGH SIERRA.

Wilder probably did see this one. He was with Paramount back then, and in 1945 he used Phillip Terry to again play a loyal brother, this time in The Lost Weekend, only now it's Ray Milland who goes ape (sort of).
