One of the Greatest masterpieces of all time

I think that this is one of the Greatest masterpieces of all time. Not the very best, but it at least deserves to be on the top 250.

I think this is one of Capra's best films.

It is definitely my favorite Capra film and is truly my favorite movie of all time, and I like/love a LOT of movies.

I'm a big fan of Meet John Doe, even if I'm not sure it belongs in the pantheon of all film. The scene when John stumbles in on D.B.'s meeting of power brokers toward the end is one of my favorite scenes from all of Capra's work. Between the expert dialog and acting, it really is a perfect scene in my mind. One of Gary Cooper's finest performances. I love the way he delivers the line, "The idea is still good," during the scene at the rally when they cut his microphone, and the his conviction during the final sequence where he threatens to re-start the John Doe movement anew the only way he knows how, by taking his own life. Fantastic.

I used to think I knew everything about the world. Now I just know that it's round.

I agree the storyline is original and touching, even better than Mr. Smith and IHON. Love the movie.
