Man, if I had to hear Walter Brennan either 1.) Call somebody a "heelot" or 2.) Threaten to leave, one more time, I would lose my mind!

I agree one hundred percent. As much as I love this movie, Brennan is a
whiny, irritating presence in this film. The film is overlong as it is, so
it's too bad some of his annoying scenes weren't dropped.
While we're on the subject, Brennan is fairly annoying in EVERYTHING. Just
try sitting through the '50's sitcom "The Real McCoys." I give you five
minutes before you turn it OFF.
