Boston Blackie's hairstyle.

As a young lad during WW2 I & my young friends enjoyed seeing Boston Blackie films in the cinema. Around this time 1940/48 young men in the UK often wore their hair in a style called a Boston. Hair was combed straight back over the crown and cut level at the back. I can find no mention of this hairstyle anywhere today and wonder if it was named after Chester Morris's hair in the Blackie films. Richard Attenborough also had the Boston cut in "Brighton Rock" from the same period. I wonder if anyone on here is old enough to remember those times and the Boston haircut.
