Radio show

I really like the Boston Blackie radio shows, especially the early ones with Chester Morris, but there's several differences between the radio show and this movie. So far, this is the first one that I remember seeing. For one thing, on the radio show, "The Runt" is named "Shorty". Also, Mary Wesley often features prominently in the radio shows. Boston Blackie has the same sarcastic wit that was kind of lost when Chester Morris left the show and was replaced by Richard Colmer.

The radio show seems to move quicker, but, that's probably because they have less than half the time to tell a similar story as in a movie. For example, when Blackie's being chased through Coney Island near the beginning of the film, there would have been some dialog/narration and that whole sequence would have been cut down to, I don't know, about a minute or so because of the time restraints of the radio program.
