Spoiler: The Frank Andre (Yaray) character throws this off the tracks.

I hate to be this guy ... if this was different ... well, then it would be a different movie but here goes: Richard (Marshal) was clearly a jerk. Bob (Reeves) was a reformed jerk. Both have the macho outdoorsy thing going for them as well. If the blind, humble little pianist was more like them it would have set up a "you couldn't see how Michael (Cotten) was right for you" scenario.

Besides, Frank comes in AFTER she was been ruined, for other men, by Richard. Also, didn't Andre's professional career take off after he left performing at the school/home for the blind? Or was he on his way to being famous and just a volunteer there?

In any case you run a real risk when one of the characters "thrown-over" is blind albeit a successful blind man. Frankly, he didn't have much to say anyway.
