Her mother's last line...

Anyone else notice that her lips don't match up with what she says? I always wonder what was actually in the script and why it was changed...I'm thinking because of the Hayes' code.

reply

I also noticed it didn't match up

But you can’t play scrabble, not with grown up people.

reply

Well, all right. But don't blame me if...

Best I can tell. Unfortunately, since she turns her back, we'll never know the rest. Must be some double entendre about going to Canada or being cold or something.

reply

Because of the way Susan laughs in response, I've also wondered if the reason the mother's original dialogue was replaced is because it created a double entendre the censors wouldn't allow.

reply

Its funny what the sensors would allow back then. The scene where Steven's left breast is unraveling on the phonograph and Susan points to her own breast. Its not a big deal to today's audiences, but that seemed kind of risqué for the time period (early 40s.)

My memory foam pillow says it can't remember my face. I can tell its lying.
