My grandmother liked watching classis horror/thriller movies when my mom was growing up. Neither can remember the name of the movie but just know it had Bette Davis in it. All my mom remembers is something about a human head on platter falling down the stairs...odd as it may seem I am determined to figure out if this is the movie she is thinking of. Can anyone help?

No. It isn't.
It could be "What ever happened to Baby Jane?", in which Bette serve a dead birdie in a platter at dinner to her sister (Joan Crawford).
