Dan Duryea's Fine Art of Sniveling
Sure he was great as a nasty sidekick in many a Film Noir but in this film he has perfected sniveling to a level never attained again. The whole audience wants to line up and take turns slapping him.

shareHe sure was something of a Hollywood´s Resident Sleazoid back in the day - the only film I´ve seen where he´s something of a sympathetic character, was in the 1946 Black Angel. Good to see a variation of his slimeballing here though as he was as much a dumb laughing stock as he was an as-hole.

I love when he gets slapped around by the other boy.
Then knocked down.
And this was his film debut! The first in a long career of weasels. I liked his
little Jerry Lewis laugh in this.
I'm not crying, you fool, I'm laughing!
Hewwo.
Earlier this year I was lucky enough to catch the screening of Too Late For Tears at the American Cinemtheque's annual festival of film noir. Duryea absolutely kills in this role, and he had the crowd eating out of his hand every moment he was on screen.
He was quite a performer.
Dan Duryea was the perfect slime-ball!
