supporting cast - with 1 question

Sturges really assembled talented performers for his supporting cast. William Demarest and Eric Blore really stood out. The performances by all those actors and actresses really let the stars shine.

The one who looked familiar - but I can not name - is the third "crook" along with card-sharps Coburn and Stanwyck. He had few lines, but he was back-up for whatever evil deed father and daughter were up to at the time. I'm sure I have seen him in other movies.

I think you're talking about Melville Cooper, who played the third member of Stanwyck's entourage on the boat. He isn't seen as much in the second half of the film but still leaves an impression, obviously. :)

Cooper was also in The Adventures of Robin Hood with Errol Flynn. He played the cowardly Sheriff of Nottingham and again does a wonderful job.

Sweet merciful crap!

It's just tea! *sips* Needs more gin.

Looking at the Dr. Watson character in "the adventure of the speckled band", it does look like Melville Cooper in The Lady Eve.

Thanks for the ID work!.
